- 6:30pm: Fruit of the Tree: Literary Lineage of Black Arts Movement and Kalamu Ya Salaam
ACC Theater Stage
Celebrate the literary lifetime of Kalamu ya Salaam with SAC (Students at the Center), Runagate Press, NOMMO Literary Society, WordBand, New Orleans culture bearers and national tributes.
This is a long-overdue event for One Book One New Orleans, the festival's parent organization, who did not get a chance to gather and collectively appreciate Salaam's work in 2020, when his book New Orleans Griot: The Tome Dent Reader was the focus of their citywide reading and literacy outreach.
